CAIRO - Secretary-General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon in the international meeting in Cairo on Thursday requested a cease-fire and political settlement as soon as possible on the crisis in Libya.
"We ask the political process, so that citizens can express their aspirations Libya," Ban said at the meeting, organized by the Arab League and the UN, in a press conference at the end of the event.
"We repeated the request in order to create a cease-fire immediately," said Ban, who also co-chair the conference.
Head of the Foreign Affairs European Union Catherine Ashton, who also attended the Cairo conference, asked Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi back immediately. "The attitude of the EU is very clear, Colonel Muammar Qaddafi should immediately resign," he said.
